"Enigma"

Place: Enigma, Bangalore

Category: Pub

Landmark: Inner ring road Koramangala. When you go from Koramangala to airport road , you get this on your left hand side , on the main road. After sukh sagar.

Seating: very comfortable, not congested .... you can sit like a king.

Ambience: Fantastic. Modern - chic - Neat . good ligting and night sky decor on the ceiling. TV's are little out of date. This place is so spacious , you dont get your neighbours smoke on your face.

Music: till 9pm they play popular music and after that its mix of dance-hip hop-punk-trance.

crowd: Its koramangala , who else do u expect ? mostly techi crowd. u can also spot some college kids ;-)

Ideal time:Enter by 8 to get the place of your choice.

Parking:Two wheelers available outside the pub. Cars will have to parked on the opp side. Valet Parking available.

Food: Peanut masala goes well with the draught. Otherwise nothing special.

Dress code: None (jeans and t shirt will do) . This place has got lots of black fluorescent lights ... so your white notes will be greatly highlighted, dress accordingly ;-)

Favourite drink: Beer,Beer,Beer. I have had the best beer in blore here . It was so fresh and refreshing you just cant stop ;-)

Price: Normal. expect 400 per head.

Cover charges: 250 for the stags on fri-sat-sun.

Dance Floors: Available, but its small . Get a partner if u wanna shake your leg.

Overall rating: 8/10 ( + for seating,+fresh beer,+parking,+service, - DJ)

Summary: This was my first time there .... it has exceeded my expectations.....The pluses were the Beer , seating comfort, good service, u get attn, decent crowd, modest menu. And the minus .... nothing really ... but i would like to have the DJ changed (he turned down my Du Hast request :-( ).

"Purple Haze"

Place: Purple Haze, Bangalore

Category: Pub

Landmark: Recidency Road, Between St Josephs and Bishop Cotton.

Seating: Not confortable, like most of the pubs in the city. Conjusted.

Music: Unadultrated Rock ! sometimes it goes towards metal on request. Very loud.

crowd: mid 20-30''s, good crowd.

Ideal time:On weekends enter by 8 else u need to stand.

Parking:Ample parking available just outside the pub.

Food: Try Hariyali chicken.

Dress code: None (jeans and t shirt will do) but dressing up is encouraged.

Drink: The beer sucks, it is too watery. Better switch to shooters after a couple of mugs.

Favourite drink: Havent decided.

Price: Not on the higher side. Like any other average pub in blore.Expect 500 per head .

Cover charges: 300 for the Gentleman on saturdays .

Dance Floors: None

Overall rating: 7/10 ( - for seating,+music,-cover charges + for parking, + toilets,+crowd,+ambience,-loud)

Summary: This place is strictly for rock buffs only. The ambience is very good, appropriately lit and takes you back to the hendrix days ! If u have a lot of catching up to do, then avoid this place as its too loud .

"Guzzlers"

Place: Guzzlers Inn, Bangalore

Landmark: Parallel to church street, second street on brigade road when u walk down the road.

Seating: comfortable, one of the best i have seen in blore (if you get the corner seats ;-) )

Music: 80's Rock to the latest. Popular music. Very good systems , you can talk even when the music is pumping.Rock goes on a high by 10.30 and by 11.30 the music slows down.

crowd: mid 20-30''s decent crowd.

Ideal time:On weekends enter by 8 (if u r a stag) else u need to stand.Couples can anyhow find a place.

Parking:Two wheelers available on the same street. Cars will have to parked on M.G Road or Cavalry road or opp or inside symphony theatre.

Food: Peanut masala and french fries go well with the draught. Otherwise nothing special.

Dress code: None (jeans and t shirt will do)

Favourite drink: Havent decided.

Price: lesser than other pubs in the area.

Cover charges: None

Dance Floors: None

Overall rating: 7/10 ( + for seating,+music,+cover charges - for parking, - toilets(not very clean))

Summary:Guzzlers being my first pub when in school holds a special place....those days (1996-97) it used to be pretty empty and get to see the regulars .Later people used to call it a Gay Bar, but i couldnt notice anything like that. It is a place to hangout with your friends, have a chat and take out the stress.

.....happy Guzzling
